Silas is almost eight years old and in second grade, three months younger than Maggie.  He is an amazing little boy
with an incredible sense of humor.  He makes me laugh every day.  He is also the bravest little boy I know.  Silas has
scoliosis and several missing ribs.  In 2009 he had surgery to put in a "titanium rib" and a rod in his spine.  This is an
adjustable metal apparatus that supports his spine and is adjusted every six months for growth.  He has had his
initial surgery and two growth surgeries so far, as well as a surgery to untether his spinal cord.  He handles every
surgery like a champ.  Despite his physical challenges, he loves to be active and try to do everything his siblings do.
He plays football and soccer, climbs trees, and swims and rides his bike.  We don't tell him there is anything he can't
do.  He is very articulate, has a great vocabulary and loves to read.  He's a good dancer and has an impressive
memory.   He loves Legos, Star Wars. and his bottle cap collection.  He has the softest skin of anyone I have ever felt.
He loves to be tickled and likes long hugs.  His favorite food is spaghetti.  He is a delightful, precocious, sensitive,
affectionate, amazing little man!
