We keep working on getting a good family shot for the Christmas card. I thought if we started now, we might get something acceptable by December. You saw the last family photo I posted. Everyone was fine accept Hannah and Jordan didn't like themselves in it. So we tried again, and this was the best we got. Unfortunately, Art's eyes are closed, and Eden's head is down. We'll try again maybe next week.

Hannah's TKD demonstration last
week. She looks so cool and
serious and focused.
And I've never hidden the fact that I love Hannah's hair. It's as thick as a
horse tail, and it's just naturally all healthy and wholesome and smells good.
Which is a good thing, because with all her constant activity, the rest of her
doesn't always smell so good....
And speaking of natural beauty....
This one makes me laugh. They worked raking up a big pile of leaves so
they could jump in it, and just as they were finishing, Canaan ran out the
front door a bombed right into it. Look at their expressions!
An autumn morning out our back door.
|
And this is just an average day
with Eden. She walked in the
kitchen like this, and was quite
pleased with herself.
Canaan is letting Isaac try on Steven's helmet, which probably weighs more than he does and is big enough to swim in. Steven is behind him, smiling.
|
Gracie is Steven's little sister, and she and Eden
play together non-stop during each game. I love
seeing them play together. They are so cute.
And somehow Gracie doesn't seem to mind that
Eden is hard to understand.
Aw, poor Ginger. He
played some, but he still
has a bum knee. He had
to be helped off the field
again.
And my boy won! The played against the highest ranking team for the Playoff game, and won. Canaan scored two touchdowns, and did a great job!
|
And he didn't tell anyone
until he got home that he
had jammed his elbow in
the second quarter. It
was all swollen up. He
didn't say anything earlier,
because he didn't want
anyone to stop him from
playing. The boy loves
this game!
11-01-09 UPDATE:
Lots of pictures updated this week! Hallowe'en was lots of fun. As you can see, Isaac dressed up as Plex, from
Yo Gabba Gabba, and Silas was Brobee. Maggie was Stephanie from Lazytown, and Eden was the Little
Mermaid. They all chose what they wanted to be, and then I improvised costumes for them. If you don't watch
children's TV, probably the only one you will recognize is the Little Mermaid. The three big kids were Ninjas.
Hannah is the only one who actually knows how to kick and use nunchuks; Canaan and Jordan are merely
wannabes. But Jordan won a costume contest after she gained popularity by walking into a screen door at a
party. The clumsy ninja. I guess it could catch on. Canaan was a white ninja, like from GI-Joe.
We also had a fun day of raking leaves and jumping in them. It was a beautiful fall day and the weather was
beautiful.
Hannah had a Taekwondo presentation last week and did great, and I've posted some pictures of that.
Canaan won his football game yesterday! It was a playoff game. They were ranked last and played the first
ranked team and won 26 to 12. Canaan made two touchdowns and did a lot of other great stuff. It was fun, and
he was very happy. Next week they go to Raleigh for the championship game.
Tomorrow Silas goes to Charlotte for his spine surgery. They are going to put in a VEPTR and a rod. It's pretty
major surgery, and he is somewhat apprehensive. We should be at the hospital for three or four days. Please
pray that all goes well, and that there won't be too much pain for our little guy.
Last week I had an accomplishment I was proud of. For years I have aspired to run a half marathon some day. I
used to jog when we lived in Florida, but the most I had ever been able to run was six miles. As I got older, I just
sort of gave up hope that this would ever happen. This year I started swimming and jogging for the sake of my
health. I lead a First Place 4 Health class at my church, which is about balance in your life and keeping healthy. I
knew that with several children, and many more years of raising them ahead of me, that I needed to start taking
my health more seriously. When I exercise I think, pray, clear my head, and feel better and more energetic
afterwards. And it is biblical to take care of our bodies. So, I find it important to make time for this during my
week. Last week I finally accomplished my goal of running 13.1 miles, and was really happy about that.
The days are getting chillier. Time to get some firewood. We continue to pray for Art's Motorola contract to begin
soon. There was some progress last week, and we are hoping we may hear more this week.
And yes, we are working on the Christmas card. If we don't have your address, send it!
