Fun was had by all.  Then we went home, had some grilled chicken, corn
on the cob and strawberry shortcake!  Afterwards, we set off a few
fireworks.  Through a small miscommunication, the kids were in their
jammies, because I thought we were going to do fireworks on Monday,
but not everyone would be home Monday night, so no matter; they
watched fireworks in their jammies.
On our way to Hanging Rock!!
Last summer we went to
Hanging Rock for the
first time, but Jordan was
not with us.  She was in
Italy.  On Friday night I
looked at the calendar
and discovered that
everyone in the family
had the day off - very
unusual!!  We needed
to do something!!  So
we decided to head up
to Hanging Rock for a
picnic and a hike, and a
visit to the falls.
Picnic.
And started on the hike...
About 3/4 of the way up, there is this rocky place, a great spot to rest for a
minute and take some pictures.
Last year we took pictures here, and took some of just
Art and I.  I think I look sort of like I'm about to watch a
seminar on electromagnetics, but I was actually having a
really fun time.  Art always looks like he's having a good
time, even when his eyes are closed.  It's a gift I guess.
My little model.  I don't know where she
gets this from, but it's cute.
Seven of my awesome kids.
So to the left here is a picture of the
"Hanging Rock" from where we were
sitting below taking pictures.  We look
up at it, and then we hike the rest of
the way up to that spot.  The picture
below shows the same spot from
above.
And then we can walk out onto
the rock.
Jordan is braver than I am comfortable
with, and I was freaked out to have the
little ones so close to the edge.
Maggie was sticking very close to
Jordan.
Okay, I look more like I'm
having fun now.
After hiking back down again, we drove over to the trail down to the waterfall.  The water is
very cold, but you get used to it.  We waded over to the waterfall, and then Jordan, Maggie,
Isaac and Eden started sliding down the waterfall.  They had a blast.
So "Happy" Memorial Day to all.
May we all celebrate the freedoms and blessings we
have, while pausing to remember and appreciate the
cost that was paid for them.
