Our trip to Florida!!  Art has some work in South Florida, and this time we
decided to go with him!  Since the trip for him to go was already paid for,
we could hitch a ride with him, and have a little vacation virtually free.
We left late on a Sunday night so that the kids would sleep
away the trip down.  The drive is about 12 hours.
We stopped at a
rest stop in the
morning to
change clothes
and eat
breakfast.
Once we made it
to South Florida,
we headed to
the beach.  First
we stopped for
some bread and
sandwich stuff,
and had a little
picnic.
Next, the beach!  Eden has only seen the beach once, and Isaac not at all.  It was
not a hot day, about 70 degrees maybe, and they were a little tentative at first.
Tentative, but very excited....
It did not take long for them to get the hang of it, and soon they were
collecting sea shells and romping in the water.
Here Silas and Eden are waiting for the waves to come in and trying to
jump over them.
Here is how they
started out for
the night....vv
And here they are a few hours later....
Sugar Sand Science Park.  This is a fun, big, interactive playground that I used to take
the big kids to when they were little.  It is all free, and we went twice while we were
there.  The kids loved it.
Watching movies in the hotel room until it's time to
pick up Daddy from work.
Another beach day.  We went to a different beach this time.  And it was a
chilly day, about 60 degrees, so I planned to just have them play in the sand
and make sand castles.  But before long they were stripping off their
hoodies and jumping in the water again.  There were a lot of waves on this
day too.  They had fun going down to the water and holding their buckets
waiting for the waves to come up and fill them up and then running back to
their castles as fast as they could.
I buried them in the sand, and then they tried to bury me.
Scrumptious little sandy toes....
Watching movies and eating frosties in the hotel room.
We had dinner with
Carrington one evening.
(Isaac's middle name is
after Carrington)  He is
doing great and we are
so proud of him.
We met Mrs. Hadley at the beach
on one morning for breakfast.  We
saw the sunrise and played with
the seagulls and had a wonderful
time.
My classy, stylish, hip,
long time friend, Mrs.
Hadley.  It was good to
chat again.  She is one of
the few things I miss
about Florida.
Then off to Grandma and Grandpa's house in Orlando!  The kids loved
seeing Grandpa and Grandma again, making trains, and Lego and doing
lots of fun things together.
March 8, 2010 UPDATE

We spent last week in Florida!  Well, Art and I and the little ones any way.  The big ones
stayed home with jobs and school, and the rest of us headed south with Art.  Art has
begun work on a contract in South Florida at Motorola, and since he was driving down
anyway, we thought we might tag along and see some sunshine.  We have been
talking of doing this for a while now, as Art has made several trips to Florida for work.
And it finally worked out for us to be able to go.

We had a great time!  While Art was at work, I took the kids to the beach and to the
park, and visiting friends.  It was not quite as warm as we would have liked, in the
sixties mostly, but that didn't stop the kids from playing in the ocean water as much as
they could.  They did very well on the trip, especially considering there was a whole lot
of driving.  They did so well, we think we'll try to do it again sometime.  Check out the
photos on the new March 2010 page.
Days finally started to get warmer in March and the kids were all very
happy to get outside for long days of playing Ninjas in the back yard.
And with the spring weather
came our first wildflowers.  Here
is a typical Eden bringing me a
handful of purple flowers she
found.  Aren't they beautiful?
Eden taking a few moments to play Polly Pockets with Canaan.
Another nice warm day
had us all on the
trampoline.  It was
hilarious how Maggie
and Eden's hair stood
on end from the static.
A beautiful spring
evening with
grilled hot dogs
and making
s'mores, running
around playing in
the back yard and
dancing to music.
Eating s'mores on
the teeter totter.
My beautiful, beautiful girls!
And more signs of spring, catching crickets!
