A Day at Hanging Rock....
So, it was a cool overcast day. We got there around lunch time, so we decided to have our picnic lunch first. The three boys were eating sandwiches. The two on the right are Art's nephews, Brendan and Alex. I was trying to get a picture showing how the three of them look so alike, but Canaan kept making faces. This is the best one I could get!

Here I was trying to take pictures of myself like Jordan does. I tried several, and found out it wasn't as
easy as it looks. I got a great angle of up my nose though. It wasn't until I uploaded the pictures at
home that I realized in all the pictures, Canaan was peeking out between us, which was pretty funny.
Isn't this beautiful? It also shows how most of the day went, with
Isaac bringing up the rear with his little legs.
So, you hike up quite a ways, and you come to this little clearing, and look up to
see the Hanging Rock. The picture doesn't do it justice. The amazing thing to
me is that you keep hiking on and you end up on the top of this rock!
Everyone is looking forward in this picture but I like the one below better,
where everyone is laughing and so happy.
Here we are on the top of the rock! We made it!!
This is how Eden, Isaac, and Silas made it back. Maggie was the only one who
wasn't carried at all and I was very proud of her. But I was really proud of Silas
too. This was very strenuous for his fragile little body, and he really cowboyed up.
Brendan got over to the waterfall first.

The water was icy cold, but it felt great.
|
Canaan found crawdads under rocks.
Hannah helped the little
kids look for rocks and
interesting things under the
water.
Then Brendan and Hannah followed the stream down a ways.
|
It was a great day, and we can't wait to come back again with JORDAN next time!!!
|
And the boys have been spending a
lot of time playing X Box, and the twins
brought Guitar Hero up with them.
Here is Eden pretending to play her
"guitar" - an inflatable sword. She was
pretty funny as usual.
Grandma and Grandpa sent the girls some crafts to do, and they really enjoyed them. Look at the concentration.

07-29-09 Update:
The July 2009 page 3 shows our pictures from our adventure today. Art's nephews, Brendan and Alex (13
yo twins) are here for a visit this week, and we went up to Hanging Rock. Mr. Homer and Ms. Cindy told us it
was a good place to go and they were right! It was a lot of fun. All the details are with the pictures.
Besides that, I think the boys are having fun. It's a little hard to tell, but they're playing a lot of X Box. Lazy
days of summer I guess.
We are still missing Jordan. She is still in Italy and we are expecting her home on August 15th and we are
counting the days, probably me the most.
Art may have some more work coming up here soon in Florida. We are sure praying for more work, and it
looks a little encouraging. So this is good news too.
Besides this, our lazy summer days have been filled with playing outside, lots of gardening, and just enjoying
the beautiful weather in this lovely place we live. We are daily thankful that we are still here.
Making Granny's birthday present: We decided to make stepping
stones for Granny's garden. Here the kids are mixing cement and
pouring it into molds.
Then after it dried a bit,
they each put their
footprint in the cement.
Next came deorating them with stones and bits of ceramic and beads.
The next day, once all
was dry, they each
painted in their
footprints.
Finished product! Not too bad....
