Joy is our newest addition. She is two years old and joined our family the beginning of 2011. Joy had a very rough
start in life, but is thriving now. She had some unknowns regarding her health, and we are continuing to have her
tested for her eyesight, hearing, and development. Joy was our first adoption from a foster care situation. She
was obviously loved and treasured by her foster family in Ghana. She is adjusting to our family very well, and all
the kids love her.
We are still discovering Joy's personality and what she likes and doesn't like. Currently, she seems to enjoy
whining and crying equally well. She also has a sense of urgency to reorganize everything in the house so that
nothing is left where it originally was. She loves shoes, eating, and singing. She is an awesome dancer! She
really enjoys going out, whether it is to the grocery store, or just for a walk. She likes to play in the back yard with
her brothers and sisters. She likes to "help" whenever she can, and I attribute that to the influence of her foster
mom, "Auntie Comfort". She loves to help empty the dishwasher, wipe up messes, and feed the dogs, anything
she can do. She follows directions to put things in the garbage, or take things to someone. Her favorite room in
the house is the kitchen, maybe because that's where I always am, or maybe it's because that's where the food is,
not sure. As we learn more about Joy, we will continue to update this page. I am working on our "Journey to Joy
page" but it is not done yet.
