So here is our big adventure.  A whirlwind trip to Canada over
just five days!  (For those who don't know, my sister and her
family still live in Canada, not far from where we were raised.  I
hadn't seen her three years.)  Several things had to fall
together to make it possible for the whole family to be able to
go, and when it seemed it just might work, we went for it!
It is about a 12-13 hour drive under the right conditions.  It took
us a little longer.  We left NC on a Thursday night and drove
through the night.  We arrived in Waterloo early Friday afternoon.
Our first stop was the St. Jacob's Market.  This is a huge farmer's
market / flea market / fair / outlet etc.  Being the Saturday before
Thanksgiving it was mad busy, but still exciting.  There are so
many booths and smells, samples, and things to see.  Many of
the vendors are Mennonites as this is a Mennonite area.
Couldn't resist taking a picture of the Mennonite
on the cell phone.
Really beautiful countryside, and at its peak in the fall.
My sister and I.
Next stop on our adventure:  Cousin Harley has a pilot's
license and gave the kids the thrill of an airplane ride!
First the boys went up together.  Then the girls went up.
When the girls went up, I gave Hannah the camera so we
could see some shots from inside the plane.
At one point in each flight, Harley let Canaan and
Hannah each have a turn at the controls.  Pretty cool!
I guess it was a really relaxing flight.  Talk about
confidence in your pilot!
Rapunzel, Rapunzel...
Canaan teaching Ki-ki to blow a dandelion.
Canadian Thanksgiving is actually on Monday, but
we had our Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday night.
Here is the kids' table!
Canaan and Eden modeling the skunk and owl hats
they got at the Market.
Ready for church on Sunday.
Beautiful Maggie.
This is one of two covered bridges left in Canada.  It is
called the West Montrose Covered Bridge or the
"Kissing Bridge" .  You are supposed to kiss when
going over the bridge, which of course, we complied.
We took a walk at the university campus where my sister works.
I love this picture, except that my sister isn't in the picture, and the
lighting isn't great.  But besides that...
Ki-ki helping my sister fold laundry.
Ahhh... breakfast.   Staying at my sister's house is like
staying at a Bed and Breakfast, only you get great food
for all the meals.  Yum.
