Hannah and her Taekwondo friends practicing routines in the backyard. They're so cute I can hardly stand it.

Canaan's "graduation"
picture.
First you need a laundry basket and a long piece of rope. Oh, and also a stick to prop up the basket. Put some nuts under the basket, and then retreat to a safe hiding place to watch your trap
|
Make sure your hiding spot is completely inconspicuous, at least, oh ten or twelve feet away.
|
Watch carefully, and if a squirrel comes, pull the rope quickly to trap the squirrel under the basket.
|
Continue to watch for at least three or four minutes, and if no squirrel comes, go inside and get something to eat.

Cutting Daddy's hair.
My Skater girls... I can't believe what
great balance they have!
Anybody for some Corn Hole? Mr. Homer and Mrs. Cindy have a Corn Hole game and it's lots of fun. It is a lot harder than it looks!
|
Another day of Hannah's Taekwondo friends over to practice and also to cook food in the kitchen together! Yummy Asian food and homemade brownies. I love love love it. I love it when they have their friends over.
|
It also happened to be the
day of Silas's birthday
celebration, so all Hannah's
friends joined in the fun and
it was so much fun!!
He wanted a Night Fury cake, from How To Train Your Dragon. I did my best.

Mr. Homer and Mrs. Cindy
give the best gifts! Covered
in bottle caps, which Silas
has a big collection of.
This was cute. He said, "Oh! I got hangers!"

Canaan got Silas Night Fury
pajamas.
Grandma and Grandpa got the kids a really funny game called Ring Around the Nosey. It was hilarious watching everyone try to pick up the rings with their elephant noses.

New photos of Baby Joy, who
is doing very well. She
received our package a
couple weeks ago. What a
lovely little face.

We would like to announce, with the above video, that we are adopting once again. We have a
great compassion for the children of the world who have no family and no hope. We continue to
be drawn by God to bring into our family as many as He will bless us to bring home. At Easter I
was reminded of the women who went to Jesus's tomb: Matthew 16 - "When the Sabbath was
over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might
go to annoint Jesus' body. Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on
the way to the tomb and they asked each other, 'Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of
the tomb?' But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been
rolled away."
This is profound in that the women prepared to go to the tomb with spices for Jesus' body, they
prepared, they set out, they did everything, but they did not know how they would get to His body.
They didn't know. But they went anyway. They went forward, not knowing who or if the stone
would be rolled away. They went in obedience, and in love. So, we too, set forth in obedience,
and in love. The stone is very large. It is almost two years now since Art was laid off, and it has
not been an easy time. Yet God has miraculously opened the doors for us to not only stay in our
home, and continue to provide for our needs, but for us to proceed in this adoption to this point.
We do not know what will happen, but we are setting out with our spices, ready for Him to move
the stone, in His time, and in His way.
Please view the video above for the story of Joy so far.
And if God moves in your heart to contribute to bringing Joy home, tax deductible contributions
can be made to www.godofwonder.org and designate your contribution for the adoption of Baby
Joy.
Please pray for Joy as she waits, and for us as we proceed to bring her home.
May 1, 2010 UPDATE:
Silas is doing great. His next surgery is scheduled for June 4th to have the rods in his back adjusted.
Please remember to pray for him then. It is not nearly as invasive of a surgery as his surgery last
November to have the rods put in, but it is still surgery, and still serious.
Hannah goes next Thursday (May 6) for surgery to repair her umbilical hernia that she developed with all
her mad abdominal exercises she does in her Taekwondo and gymnastics. She has learned to do some
amazing things, and she has some rock hard abs, but somehow she managed to develop a little hernia
that we'll have to have repaired so that she can continue to do all her activities. Although it is not a real
serious surgery, she is still pretty apprehensive as she has never had surgery before. She is also not
happy about having to take several weeks off of training.
We are also celebrating that Hannah tested for her Black Belt this past week! The testing was long, but
she is now officially a Black Belt in Taekwondo. There are more pictures posted on the April 2010 page 2
page.
We are loving every minute of the spring weather. This week the kids camped out in the backyard. I don't
have those pictures up yet, but will soon. It's been lovely, and my garden is doing very well so far. I can't
wait to see what we get out of it. I love going out every day and checking on the progress and how many
new little green shoots are coming up out of the ground. My rhubarb is thriving and I am thrilled about
that.
All of our many April birthday are over, and we are now fast approaching Canaan's 18th birthday in May.
Hard to believe my little Bear Bear is 18. These things are hard to think about.
We received some new photos of Joy. She is beautiful and doing very well. The orphanage she was in
was closed and she is now in foster care with her favorite "auntie" from the orphanage. It will still be some
time before she will be home. We appreciate your prayers for her while she waits, and that everything that
needs to happen to bring her home will happen in the right way and at the right time.
