The new coloring books Grandma and Grandpa sent.
Here the kids are playing with the DJ
Lance hat that Eden got for her
birthday. It plays games like telling
them to run or walk or dance and then
freeze. They love it. Eden is wearing
the DJ Lance glasses.
Have you seen bigger
cheeks?
Hannah is in a constant state of exercise, and you can
come upon her at any time and see her practicing
different things.
In the video she is practicing her one handed
carwheel. She wants to learn to do a no-handed
cartwheel, which apparently is called an aerial.
Here she is practicing
her handstands
(doesn't everyone?
Mine are a little rusty,
I must admit.)
Check out this chick's
arms!!
Here is Eden modeling some of the
birthday clothes sent from Grandma
and Grandpa.
I was looking through the closet
for something, and came across
the little outfit Canaan was
dedicated in. My little Bear
Bear! sniff sniff....
And here is what Canaan calls his "king
sandwich"... three pieces of bread with
peanut butter between two and jelly
between the other two. The thing must
weigh two pounds!
Maggie and her
new yellow belt.
Peapod enjoying Pepsi the fish.
The kindergarten choir performing at church. See
Maggie's intensity, and Silas's umm.... fidgetiness?
Maggie had a part in a trio:

04-27-09 Update:
Yesterday was Silas's sixth birthday! Hannah made him a Bolt cake, which I think came out really well. Si had a great day. It
was also Sunday, and that night the kindergarten choir was performing a little program at church, so we have some photos of
Maggie and Silas singing in the program too. Maggie had a part in a trio too, and they both had a speaking line. They did
great!
Hannah was praying about her plans, and her job, school etc. She has been working at Panera Bread for almost two years,
but what she really loves is Tae Kwon Do. She has been volunteering there since last September in exchange for her
lessons, and she helps instruct the children's classes. She was saying how much she wished she could work there instead
of Panera Bread. There is one instructor leaving this fall, and I told her to show them that she was capable of the job, and to
let them know she was interested, and maybe she could get the postion in the fall. Well, she had not even had a chance to
say anything about it, when one of the Masters asked her to come in and talk to him. They offered her a job! She was
SOOOooooo excited!!
We have put a lot of effort and sweat into the garden this year, turning it all over by hand (well, by shovel really) and it is finally
all planted. It is so pretty and we are excited to see what will grow. We planted watermelon, summer squash, cucumbers,
pickles, cauliflower, two kinds of lettuce, onions, green onions, beets, cabbage, cowpeas, green peas, basil, cilantro,
tomatoes, and green, yellow and jalapeno peppers. I think that's all. And my rhubarb came back from last year, and hopefully
we'll be able to harvest some this year.
And check out my azaleas! They are all in full bloom and beautiful! (Probably because I didn't plant them or touch them.)
We are all fully enjoying the spring weather, and getting outside playing and working. Art is waiting on the details of a contract
now which might get us through the summer. All of these things move so slowly, and he has been waiting since December
for this. We are very eager to get some work. Thank you for your prayers.

05-02-09 Update:
Not a whole lot of pictures this week, but a few. We got the pool out of the shed and
put it up. There were a couple hot days in the eighties, and the kids wanted to try
out Silas's birthday gift from Granny and Pop: a pirate ship! It has an inflatable
sword and a gun that shoots water from the pool. As you can see, they all fit on it,
so there are not fights about that anyway. (Just fights over the gun and sword!)
There was a little extraexcitement when they got in the first time: It was warm
outside, but the water was really cold. Still, they were determined to get in. Maggie
went down the ladder first and got to the bottom step and kind of plunged into the
water. She's a good swimmer. Isaac was next, and he saw how she did it. He was
hesitant, but then he got to the bottom step and did just what she did. The pool
water is only three feet deep, and they all handled it fine all last summer, as they
can stand on the bottom easily. But somehow Isaac's feet slipped out from under
him this time, and the cold water must have taken his breath away because he went
under and couldn't get his feet under him again. He looked terrified. I quickly
reached out for him but his little hand was just out of reach, so I did what any
mother would do and jumped into that freezing cold water, fully clothed, with my
slippers and socks on, and stuff in my pockets... he was shaken up, but fine. As
you can see in the photos, he was soon back in the water and playing happily.
Meanwhile, my slippers took about three days to dry out! I can still remember when
Canaan was just a little squirt and we were at the community pool at Grandma's
house and he stepped off the steps where he was playing. I clearly remember
Jordan, who was probably only about six at the time, swimming over to pick him up
and she held him up out of the water even though her own head was under the
water! I remember her eyes looking up at me through the water as she held him up
to me! I jumped in fully clothed that time too, and even though the whole thing only
took a few seconds, it seemed like minutes and is etched in my brain.
Anyway, on another note, the one thing Silas wanted for his birthday was to go
bowling, so we went on Monday night, their family night with cheaper rates, and the
little ones played one game. They sure got their money's worth though, as it took
them as long to play one game as most people could play two. They loved it, as you
can see by Silas's big smile. There were plenty of funny moments, but they are
hard to capture in a photo. But I did get lots of good video.
And saving the best for last, Art is scheduled to start work in Florida on May 11th!
Yippeee!! Thank you God! He will be there for a week, home for a week (working)
and then back in FL for the third week. He will make enough from these three
weeks to get us through the summer I think, which is great news seeing as he has
only been able to work one week so far in 2009. We are excited and very thankful!!
